We greatly researched the history of the Seminole Freedmen. These people of African origin were former slaves that associated with the Native Americans of Florida, the Seminoles. They had many different names such as Seminoles Maroons, Seminole Negros, Black Muscogulges, and Afro-Seminoles. Most of the information that we share with the public came from Kevin Mulroy’s books “Freedom on the Border”and “The Seminole Freedmen, A History”.

Stories of the Seminole Freedmen
These stories have their beginnings in Florida. From there, the story moves to the Indian Territory, on to Mexico and back to Texas. These are true stories that in most cases have never been told before. These people have a rich history with many undiscovered heroes, men like the famous John Horse and the interrupter and advisor called Abraham. These tales include the history of the first, second and third Seminole War and the creation of the Seminole Indian Negro Scouts. There are many stories about famous black Seminole Lawmen, such as Heck Bruner and the famous advisor and lawyer to the Seminole Nation, James Coody Johnson.
