Wallace Moore, storyteller, retired from the US Army with the rank of SGM. He is the cofounder of Barkingwater Productions, a 501(c)3 organization. Barkingwater Productions is dedicated to the preservation of western history with special emphasis on the contributions made by African Americans.
Wallace’s Community Involvement
Wallace was the charter president of the Lawton/Fort Sill Chapter of the 9th & 10th (Horse) Cavalry Association. He presently serves as first Vice President and Historian. He also belongs to the Single Action Shooting Society and the US Cavalry Association.
Wallace’s Work
Wallace is the author of two books, “Ebony Shadows of the Trail” and “Ebony Horse Soldiers.”
Wallace is America’s only Black Cowboy Poet. His poems have been published in several books, such as Art Burton’s, “Black Star, Silver Gun” and the “Life of Cherokee Bill”.
Wallace has appeared on stage with Michael Martin Murphy at the Medicine Park Music Hall. He also appeared with Lidia Bastianick on “Cooking Across America,” a PBS special. He has also entertained the famous Red Steagall with stories of the Buffalo Soldiers.
Wallace has appeared at schools, western day festivals, churches, and as the guest speaker at many banquets. In 2019, he appeared on the cover of the February issue of the magazine, “580” and was one of the feature stories.
Wallace’s Clients
A few of his clients have been The National Historical Landmark Museum at Fort Sill, OK. Wallace has served as a living history interpreter there for 28 years. He has also worked for the Museum of the Great Plains, Lawton, OK;Three Rivers Museum, Muskogee, OK; Western Heritage Museum and Cowboy Hall of Fame, Oklahoma City; and Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, Duncan,OK. In 2007, he was employed by Disney World , Epcot Center, Orlando, Florida.
